How Comedians Get Booked Here:
Most likely, if you got a booking here, it is because we invited you to perform on our stage. 95% of our bookings are performers who we are already familiar with in one way or the other. Either we have worked with you locally/regionally, or you are a professional, working comedian with the credits and experience that place you in high demand.
And so you might ask: “But how can I get booked there if you guys don’t know who I am?”
To which we would say: “Ah yes, now you are starting to get it! We pay close attention to who is working in comedy. We are friends and colleagues with bookers and working comics all around the country. If we don’t know you, what’s the chance our audience will? Please remember, we have to sell tickets to these shows.”
With that said, here is what you can do:
- Start regularly attending our Monday 7:30 PM open-mic “The Workshop” and keep signing up for spots. Get to know us. Give us a chance to get to know you. No guarantees we will put you on, but this is still your best chance of performing here. Pretty much all the comics passed at this club did it this way.
- Send your links/avails to: [creative(at)commonwealthsanctuary(dot)com]. To be honest, this isn’t going to get you very far. Most of these submissions will go unanswered.
And here is what you should be:
Be creatively and undeniably funny.
Be reliably professional.
Be socially proficient.
If you still have questions, find a veteran comic in this scene or in yours, and ask them for advice.
